Jenga Triptych was created around the idea that building a business on foundations that won’t be able to sustain exponential growth through finite resources, will lead to its inevitable collapse.
In this piece, Jonathan is drawing parallels between the popular game Jenga, where removing one block can cause the entire structure to tumble, and the precariousness of building businesses, economies, or societies on unsustainable practices. Just like in Jenga, and in real life too, there comes a tipping point where the removal of resources leads to collapse. It's a poignant reminder of the need for balance, careful management, and sustainable growth.
Jonathan's choices of colour is never arbitrary; they hold profound meaning and contribute significantly to the narrative he weaves with his work. For instance, in the Jenga prints, he specifically selected blue, red, and grey (as a substitute for white). The decision was not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for the significant symbolism they hold, echoing the colours of the United States flag.
